ISA Position Descriptions

The following is the descriptions of positions in the International Students’ Association Committee:

1) PRESIDENT OF THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION (ISA)

The ISA’s objective is to encourage and foster friendships among students from different cultural backgrounds at Wellington College. It does this through initiating, supporting and implementing cultural, sports and academic programmes in which students of different nationalities are encouraged to participate.

Responsibilities:
Provides effective leadership to the overall running of the ISA
Chairs all ISA meetings
Oversees the operations of the three programmes: the academic, the sports and the cultural programmes..
Liaises with all staff members and other students when necessary
Reports to the teacher-in-charge
Qualities and skills
Enthusiastic in and committed to the ISA’s objective.
Comfortable and empathetic with other cultures and students of different nationalities at Wellington College.
Friendly, reliable
Leadership skills
Enjoys organising group activities - Specifically must be able to organise a football tournament and a basketball tournament for international students at Wellington College.

2) VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION

Responsibilities:
Assists the President in the running of the ISA
Acts on behalf of the President in his absence.
Qualities & Skills:
As for the President of the ISA


3) ACADEMIC CO-ORDINATOR

Responsibilites:
The academic co-ordinator runs the ISA’s academic programme. The main component of the academic programme is the International Peer Tutoring Programme (IPT) through which, generally, capable students from mainstream classes help international students in various subjects. The academic co-ordinator also initiates other academic activities for the ISA’s members during the year.
The academic co-ordinator reports to the President of the ISA and the teacher-in-charge.

4) SPORTS CO-ORDINATOR

Responsibilities:
The sports co-ordinator runs the ISA’s sports programme of which the main components are the International Football Tournament in Term 1 and the International Basketball Tournament in Term 3. The sports co-ordinator also initiates other sports activities for the ISA’s members during the year.
The sports co-ordinator reports to the President of the ISA and the teacher-in-charge.
Qualities & Skills:

Comfortable and empathetic with students of other nationalities at Welllington College
Organisational and communication skills
Must be able to organise a football and a basketball tournament.


5) CULTURAL CO-ORDINATOR

Responsibilities:
The cultural co-ordinator runs the ISA’s cultural programme of which the main component is the cultural activities (eg. ethnic food sales, film showing, martial arts demonstration) in the International Students’ Week in Term 1. The cultural co-ordinator also initiates other cultural activities for the ISA’s members during the year.
The cultural co-ordinator reports to the President of the ISA and the teacher-in-charge.

6) INFORMATION COORDINATOR

Responsibilities:
The information coordinator is responsible for putting photos of international students and other related events online, managing International Students page on website.
Information Coordinator may be required to create a website for international students association using Google Sites, and update it regularly.
Notification emails are to be sent by the information coordinator using school email account. Texts can be sent through SchoolLinks.

Good communication skill
Have a sense of humour

Literal


7) COUNTRY LIAISON

Responsibilities:
To provide a “go-go" for the students of that country. Help organise the teams for the sports tournaments and promote other country based events. Countries include: China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, South America, Thailand, Vietnam and others.

Enjoys other cultures


8) SECRETARY

Responsibilities:
To record meeting minutes and circulate, via email, to the ISA committee
